How to become a good Manager

Managers are responsible for the output of the other employees who are reporting to him . Experienced managers who join a new organization start out by letting everyone know that nothing will be changed for the time being and all the current policies and procedures that are currently in effect will remain valid and no changes in personnel equipment procedures are contemplated for the present.

The good manager must not give promises in this period because if he failed to do so , he will lose the believe of those people in his capabilities and they will work to put obstacles in his way to proof his / her failure. A good manager must also avoid dictatorial actions without losing his authority. The manager must delegate some of his work to his assistants in order to avoid routine work which will take a lot of his time which must be allocated for more strategic work.

The good manager must have the characteristics of a leader who can create the team work spirit among his employees in order to give more productivity and create synergy. Lebanon needs professional managers and to separate the ownership from management because it is not necessary for a wealthy person to be a good Manager. The main problem in Lebanon is that most companies are family businesses and managed by their owners regardless if they have managerial talents so they make many mistakes which may lead to the bankruptcy of the company.Due to the high competition in Lebanon from local and international firms , these family businesses find that they cannot compete with their competitors unless they recruit professional managers and university graduates in order to be able to face those professional people and due to the fact that managerial talents are acquired not inherited in spite of the need for charisma, loyalty, humbleness which are interpersonal characteristics.
